Your First Choice for Scratch and Dent Appliances in St. George
In a day and age where big box stores sell overpriced appliances to hardworking men and women, droves of Americans are flocking to scratch and dent retailers. At Preferred Appliance Sales and Repair, we understand that money doesn’t grow on trees. That’s why we offer our customers the largest selection of overstock and scratch and dent appliances in South Carolina.
Finding a reputable, clean discount appliance store can be challenging. Unfortunately, companies in our industry get a bad rap. Sometimes, they earn it with dingy, poorly-lit stores, empty shelves, and mediocre customer service. At Preferred Appliance Sales and Repair, we are proud to give our customers the “big box” structure of major chains mixed with personable service and affordable pricing of a discount appliance business. Our store is clean, our shelves are stocked, and our staff is ready and waiting to exceed your expectations.
The surge in popularity of scratch and dent appliances might be new, but we are far from a “fly by night” appliance store. As a locally owned and operated appliance store, we have worked very hard to build trust with our customers. We have years of experience selling quality scratch and dent appliances in South Carolina, from washers and dryers to outdoor grills and everything in between. Whether you know the exact brand and appliance you’re looking for or need the assistance of a friendly sales associate, we are here to make your shopping experience seamless and enjoyable!
Customers love Preferred Appliance Sales and Repair because:
When you visit our showroom, you will see a large selection of the following products:
Scratch and Dent Appliances
Ask yourself this: Why should you pay top-dollar prices for brand new “in the box” appliances when you can have them out of the box with the same warranty for a significant amount less? When you begin to think about buying scratch and dent appliances in St. George, it begins to make all the sense in the world.
Don’t let the term “scratch and dent” scare you – all of our appliances are high-quality, name-brand products that are in great condition. You won’t ever have to worry about an inoperable oven or a faulty dryer when you shop at Preferred Appliance Sales and Repair. Our appliances are all unused and shipped to use straight off the assembly line. That’s right – you’re paying bottom-of-the-barrel prices for brand new products that your family and friends will love.
You might be asking yourself, “What’s the catch?” It might sound too good to be true, but there isn’t any catch. Our scratch and dent appliances are sold at deep discounts because a minor cosmetic issue developed somewhere along the line. A few common reasons why appliances are labeled as scratch and dent include:
Unlike some of our competitors, our skilled technicians perform rigorous multi-point examinations on all our appliances. That way, you can rest easy knowing that your out-of-the-box appliance is ready for regular use as soon as it arrives at your home. With a one-year warranty on most scratch and dent items, our customers leave our showroom with a smile on their face knowing their purchase is protected.
And that, in a nutshell, is the Preferred Appliance Sales and Repairs difference: quality appliances, helpful customer service, and real warranties that you can feel good about.
Scratch and Dent Appliances – Are They Right for You?
Here’s the truth: Nobody wants an old, beat-up appliance with huge dents and scratches. Fortunately, we’re not talking about a banged-up dishwasher that barely works. Scratch and dent appliances are just like brand new, except they have a small nick that’s barely noticeable. The question is, are you OK with a small dent if it means you could save 25% off your purchase? What about 50% off? If you were to do a Google search on a name-brand appliance and compare its price to the same item in our showroom, you would see just how cost-effective scratch and dent shopping can be.
The majority of our customers are savvy shoppers who don’t mind tiny imperfections if it means that they will get a great deal. In many cases, these imperfections are paint-based, which are easily fixed with a little elbow grease. If you’re in the market for a fully functional, nearly-new appliance and don’t mind a small blemish, buying scratch and dent appliances is a great choice that won’t break your bank.
Scratch and Dent Quick Facts
How to Get the Most Out of Your Scratch and Dent Appliances
Appliances can be a big investment, even if you’re buying them at significant discounts. Of course, you want to keep your appliances in
good shape, so they continue working properly for years. Once you buy one of our scratch and dent appliances, keep in mind these tips
to keep your new merchandise in great working order:
Overstock Appliances in St. George
Much like our scratch and dent merchandise, overstock appliances have become incredibly popular in recent times. While many savvy shoppers already know about the deals associated with overstock items, others hear “overstock appliances” and immediately think something is wrong. Nothing could be further from the truth!
There’s a simple explanation for overstock appliances in South Carolina, and it’s right in the name. Overstock items are products that manufacturers have made too many of or have a surplus of stock that needs to be sold. This is great news for shoppers who can get new, brand-name appliances at a fraction of their original cost.
There are many reasons why a manufacturer might need to sell their merchandise as overstock:
While overstock items are perfectly normal, some customers think they aren’t worth purchasing because of a perceived “expiration date.” The fact is, overstock and surplus appliances are common in every industry because inventory management isn’t an easy job. Sometimes people make errors, but those mistakes can turn into amazing opportunities for high-quality appliances at great prices.
Overstock Appliances Explained
Retailers have to deal with surplus merchandise all the time because older stock must be removed to make room for newer appliances. When a retailer has a surplus of a particular appliance, they will typically reach out to the manufacturer to see if they can return their overstocked appliances. Because these manufacturers charge retailers to restock these surplus items, many retailers choose instead to off-load their stock at a discounted price, and that’s where Preferred Appliance Sales and Repair steps in.
The bottom line? Overstock appliances in St. George are common, brand new, and waiting for you to check out at our showroom. We carry all the major appliance brand names, like Whirlpool, LG, Bosch, Maytag, Kenmore, and even Samsung. Unlike our scratch and dent products, you aren’t going to find any minor dings or scratches on our overstock appliances. It sounds too good to be true, but it isn’t – when manufacturers make too much, you’re in luck.
At Preferred Appliance Sales and Repair, we have a vast selection of overstock appliances for you to choose from, including:
Buy Scratch And Dent Appliances, Help Save The Environment
Buying overstock or scratch and dent appliances in South Carolina is not just a way to get a great deal on a name-brand product – it’s also a great way to help protect our environment. As you might have guessed, unused scratch and dent merchandise usually end up in a landfill to sit and rot. When these appliances are brought to landfills, they release toxic greenhouse gases and harmful substances as their chemical and metal composition deteriorate.
When you buy a scratch and dent appliance from Preferred Appliance Sales and Repair, know that you are doing your part to help protect our environment. When you break it down, buying products and appliances that would otherwise go to a landfill is a win-win. You’re getting an incredible discount on a high-quality appliance and you’re diminishing the harmful greenhouse gases that harm our precious environment.

Syracuse basketball 2022 three-star commit Maliq Brown has competed exceptionally well of late at several tournaments, and from my perspective, the 6-foot-9 power forward should be garnering more attention on a national scale.
At the recently held 2021 Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Brown guided his team to the championship game of the tourney’s prep bracket.
Although Brown’s squad, the Blue Ridge School in St. George, Va., fell in the title contest to the Liberty Heights Athletic Institute in Charlotte, N.C., the Orange signee was fabulous, according to a recruiting expert.
According to Rivals.com national analyst Jamie Shaw, Brown collected averages of 11.7 points, 12.3 rebounds and two steals per game at the 2021 Beach Ball Classic.
Check out what the Rivals.com analyst had to say, in part, about Brown’s performances. “Brown flexed throughout this event, using his length and ability to run and jump to maximize his production. Brown, a 6-foot-9 forward, showcased his defensive versatility, often finding himself guarding the opposing team’s best perimeter threat. Brown also rebounded at a high rate, high above everyone else. … Offensively, Brown played within himself, finishing well around the basket and getting out in transition.”
Syracuse basketball commit Maliq Brown is having a special senior season so far.
Ever since ‘Cuse coaches offered Brown in February of 2021, I’ve been high on his skill-set and talent, regardless of his national ratings from recruiting services. He’s part of a sneaky-good, five-member class for Syracuse basketball in 2022.
I always preface in these types of stories that I’m not a recruiting analyst, however, Brown sure looks the part of a four-star, top-100 prospect in the 2022 cycle.
Brown verbally committed to the Orange over Georgetown, Penn State, Virginia Tech and N.C. State in mid-October and has signed his national letter of intent to suit up for Syracuse basketball.
As we noted in a column not too long ago, Brown was named the most outstanding player as the Blue Ridge School recently captured the 2021 Mercer Invitational Tournament crown.
In leading the Blue Ridge School to this tourney’s championship, Brown was stellar in a variety of areas on the court, as he tallied averages of 17 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists per encounter.

The family of Theron Wallace, a 20-year-old who's been missing since Christmas, hired a private investigator to help find their son.
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — A local community is redoubling its efforts to find a missing University of South Carolina - Aiken student not seen in several days.
Theron Wallace, 20, went missing on Christmas morning while he was kayaking on Lake Carolina
After nearly a week of searching, his family has hired a private investigator to assist the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in its search.
On Friday, dozens of residents in the Lake Carolina residential area volunteered to help search for Wallace.
"This is someone who is a neighbor and a friend to people that we know in the community," said Jasmine Caruthers, a volunteer. "I definitely wanted to be a part of helping find him, and hopefully bring him back to his family."
Caruthers said it was her second day searching and that she will continue to be part of their search efforts to bring Wallace back home.
"He loves the lake, he loves to meditate, he loves to sit in the woods, he loves to walk trails," said Chandra Cleveland, a private investigator hired by the Wallaces. "It wasn’t unusual for him to go out, what is unusual is for him to not come back."
Investigator Cleveland said Wallace had always gone out kayaking in the mornings and this isn't anything out of the ordinary.
According to his family, Wallace was wearing a black and red life jacket when he disappeared. His phone's location was last found in the Kelly Mill, St. George area.
The kayak and paddle were found on Christmas day, but there have been no signs of Wallace. Cleveland said she is helping provide divers and boats with sonar to search. The Richland County Coroners Office is also helping provide canine units.
"The resources that I have, we can continue to got as long as we need to in order to find him," Investigator Cleveland said.
According to the DNR, Lake Carolina is 200 acres and 44ft deep. Searching every day, they have only examined around 32% of the lake.
Investigator Cleveland said this is why it's important for more people to help with the recovery mission.
If anyone has information about Wallace's whereabouts, they can contact local law enforcement or call: 1-888-CRIME-SC.

Syracuse basketball 2022 three-star commit Maliq Brown continues to earn positive praise from national recruiting analysts for his play during the 2021-22 campaign.
The latest remarks come from Rivals.com national analyst Jamie Shaw, who was checking out the recently held 2022 Chance Harman Classic in Floyd, Va.
The 6-foot-9 Brown, a top-30 power forward in his class according to Rivals.com, is a senior at the Blue Ridge School in St. George, Va. His team, in the 2022 Chance Harman Classic, lost to Centerville High School out of Centerville, Ohio, according to this tweet.
However, Brown’s performance, particularly on the defensive end, was something that Shaw has discussed in detail. Let’s have a look at what the national analyst had to say.
Big man Maliq Brown will be a welcomed addition to the Syracuse basketball zone.
Brown, by the way, committed to Syracuse basketball last October over other finalists Georgetown, Penn State, Virginia Tech and N.C. State.
The Rivals.com analyst wrote that “the defensive end is where Brown shines the most,” and I’m really pleased to hear this, because as we all know the Orange has struggled in its zone for the better part of the current stanza.
Shaw isn’t the first recruiting analyst or scout whom I’ve seen make comments about how the Syracuse basketball signee is always hustling and runs the floor well. Experts commend Brown’s defensive instincts and rebounding ability.
He’s athletic and physical in the paint, according to analysts, and that is something ‘Cuse fans should feel excited about as Brown and four other 2022 players get set to arrive on the Hill next season.
More from Shaw regarding Brown. “At 6-foot-8, his ability to move his feet is impressive, guarding down a line-up and even the point of attack in pressing situations. He has developed his vertical pop and is an aggressive rebounder both in and out of his area. Brown will need to continue adding strength and diversifying his offensive repertoire, but he leaves his mark on every game he plays.”
To date, Brown is performing at a high level in his senior term for the Blue Ridge School. According to Shaw, Brown averaged 11.7 points, 12.3 rebounds and two steals per game at the 2021 Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
When the Blue Ridge School captured the 2021 Mercer Invitational Tournament crown, Brown was named the most outstanding player. During that event, he averaged 17 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists per encounter, according to media reports.

THURSDAY, Jan. 13, 2022 (HealthDay News) -- It's a familiar trope of TV and movies -- a couple is engaged in passionate sex when the guy's heart suddenly gives out.
"Usually it's a middle-aged man. Usually he's cheating with somebody else. It's funny, there's this myth in our mind that this can happen," said cardiologist Dr. Martha Gulati, who refers to the concept as the "Hollywood heart attack."
But ardor simply isn't that arduous, said Gulati, former editor-in-chief of the American Academy of Cardiology's patient education website, CardioSmart.org.
A heap of medical evidence, including a new study out of the United Kingdom, has established that while sex might leave you feeling like your heart stopped, that's just passion -- not a life-threatening condition.
Only 0.2% of nearly 6,900 sudden cardiac death cases autopsied at a London hospital over a quarter-century were related to sexual intercourse, researchers report Jan. 13 in the journal JAMA Cardiology.
"There's no dramatic association of intimate relations and sudden cardiac death," commented Dr. Michael Kurz, a professor of emergency medicine and surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. "It's not any more risky than other vigorous activity."
The British study involved all cases of sudden cardiac death that were autopsied at St. George’s University of London Hospital between January 1994 and August 2020. That wound up being 6,847 deaths in total.
The researchers, led by the hospital's Dr. Mary Sheppard, then looked for cases where death occurred during or within one hour of sex -- and found just 17 instances.
The victims were relatively young, only 38 years old, and 35% of them were female -- a finding Gulati called "interesting."
"Usually it's always been said that sudden cardiac death during sex was more of a male thing," Gulati noted.
Nearly half of the cases involved some underlying heart problem, the London researchers found. The other half were ruled to have sudden arrhythmic death syndrome -- when someone dies from a cardiac arrest with no apparent cause.
It's not surprising that so few people die of heart failure during sex, Gulati said.
"There are so many things that we do that exerts more energy than having intercourse. In terms of worry, people should worry when they climb up a set of stairs versus having intercourse," Gulati said. "You have to be doing pretty acrobatic things to exert more energy than that during sex."
However, Gulati and Kurz noted that the study looked only at heart deaths that occurred during sex. There likely are some additional people who had their heart stop during or after sex but lived to tell the tale.
That's why you should know CPR and how to use an automatic defibrillator (AED), whether you're with a partner jogging, riding a spin bike or having raucous intercourse, the U.S. experts said.
"Regardless of what activities you're engaged in, that's why it's important for all of us to know how to do CPR, how to recognize cardiac arrest, and how to use an AED if it's available," Kurz said. "Sudden cardiac death is a time-dependent illness. If it's rapidly recognized, it is in fact a survivable disease state."
So, that's yet another part of the Hollywood heart attack myth -- the idea that the person who keels over during sex is a goner.
"Fear shouldn't overtake you. CPR should overtake you," Gulati said. "The person who is with them would hopefully initiate CPR, because that's the way we can save lives."
